    • [asv]   Festus therefore, having come into the province, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
    • [snd]   /festəs/ /ˈðerfɔr/ /hævɪŋ/ /kʌm/ /ˈɪntu/ /ðə/ /ˈprɑvɪns/ /ˈæftər/ /θri/ /deɪz/ /went/ /ʌp/ /tu/ /jərusələm/ /frɑm/ /ses'əri'ə/
    • [jnd]   Festus therefore, being come into the eparchy, after three days went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.
    • [kjv]   Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.
    • [asv]   And the chief priests and the principal men of the Jews informed him against Paul; and they besought him,
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /prists/ /ænd/ /ðə/ /ˈprɪnsəp(ə)l/ /men/ /əv/ /ðə/ / /ɪnˈfɔrmd/ /hɪm/ /əˈɡenst/ /pɔ:l/ /ænd/ /ðeɪ/ /bɪˈsɔt/ /hɪm/
    • [jnd]   And the chief priests and the chief of the Jews laid informations before him against Paul, and besought him,
    • [kjv]   Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,
    • [asv]   asking a favor against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem; laying a plot to kill him on the way.
    • [snd]   /æskɪŋ/ /eɪ/ /ˈfeɪvər/ /əˈɡenst/ /hɪm/ /ðæt/ /heɪ/ /wʊd/ /send/ /fɔr/ /hɪm/ /tu/ /jərusələm/ /leɪɪŋ/ /eɪ/ /plɑt/ /tu/ /kɪl/ /hɪm/ /ɑn/ /ðə/ /weɪ/
    • [jnd]   asking as a grace against him that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying people in wait to kill him on the way.
    • [kjv]   And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.
    • [asv]   Howbeit Festus answered, that Paul was kept in charge at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to depart thither shortly.
    • [snd]   /'hau'bi:it/ /festəs/ /ˈænsərd/ /ðæt/ /pɔ:l/ /wɑz/ /kept/ /ɪn/ /tʃɑrdʒ/ /æt/ /ses'əri'ə/ /ænd/ /ðæt/ /heɪ/ /hɪmˈself/ /wɑz/ /əˈbaʊt/ /tu/ /dɪˈpɑrt/ /ˈðɪðər/ /ˈʃɔrtli/
    • [jnd]   Festus therefore answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to set out shortly.
    • [kjv]   But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
    • [asv]   Let them therefore, saith he, that are of power among you go down with me, and if there is anything amiss in the man, let them accuse him.
    • [snd]   /let/ /ðem/ /ˈðerfɔr/ /seθ/ /heɪ/ /ðæt/ /ɑr/ /əv/ /ˈpaʊər/ /əˈmʌŋ/ /ju/ /ɡoʊ/ /daʊn/ /wɪð/ /mi/ /ænd/ /ɪf/ /ðer/ /ɪz/ /ˈeniˌθɪŋ/ /əˈmɪs/ /ɪn/ /ðə/ /mæn/ /let/ /ðem/ /əˈkjuz/ /hɪm/
    • [jnd]   Let therefore the persons of authority among you, says he, going down too, if there be anything in this man, accuse him.
    • [kjv]   Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
    • [asv]   And when he had tarried among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and on the morrow he sat on the judgment-seat, and commanded Paul to be brought.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /wen/ /heɪ/ /həd/ d/ /əˈmʌŋ/ /ðem/ /nɑt/ /mɔr/ /ðæn/ /eɪt/ /ɔr/ /ten/ /deɪz/ /heɪ/ /went/ /daʊn/ /ˈʌntu/ /ses'əri'ə/ /ænd/ /ɑn/ /ðə/ /ˈmɔroʊ/ /heɪ/ /sæt/ /ɑn/ /ðə/ /dʒədʒment/ /sit/ /ænd/ /kəˈmændId/ /pɔ:l/ /tu/ /bi/ /brɔt/
    • [jnd]   And having remained among them not more than eight or ten days, he went down to Caesarea; and on the next day, having sat down on the judgment-seat, commanded Paul to be brought.
    • [kjv]   And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
    • [asv]   And when he was come, the Jews that had come down from Jerusalem stood round about him, bringing against him many and grievous charges which they could not prove;
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /wen/ /heɪ/ /wɑz/ /kʌm/ /ðə/ / /ðæt/ /həd/ /kʌm/ /daʊn/ /frɑm/ /jərusələm/ /stʊd/ /raʊnd/ /əˈbaʊt/ /hɪm/ /brɪŋɪŋ/ /əˈɡenst/ /hɪm/ /ˈmeni/ /ænd/ /grivəs/ /tʃɑrdʒiz/ /wɪtʃ/ /ðeɪ/ /kʊd/ /nɑt/ /pruv/
    • [jnd]   And when he was come, the Jews who were come down from Jerusalem stood round, bringing many and grievous charges which they were not able to prove:
    • [kjv]   And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.
    • [asv]   while Paul said in his defense, Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, have I sinned at all.
    • [snd]   /waɪl/ /pɔ:l/ /sed/ /ɪn/ /hɪz/ /dɪˈfens/ /ˈniðər/ /əˈɡenst/ /ðə/ /lɔ/ /əv/ /ðə/ / /nɔr/ /əˈɡenst/ /ðə/ /ˈtemp(ə)l/ /nɔr/ /əˈɡenst/ /sizər/ /hæv/ /aɪ/ /sɪnd/ /æt/ /ɔl/
    • [jnd]   Paul answering for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar, have I offended anything.
    • [kjv]   While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
    • [asv]   But Festus, desiring to gain favor with the Jews, answered Paul and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
    • [snd]   /bʌt/ /festəs/ /dɪˈzaɪrɪŋ/ /tu/ /ɡeɪn/ /ˈfeɪvər/ /wɪð/ /ðə/ / /ˈænsərd/ /pɔ:l/ /ænd/ /sed/ /wɪlt/ /ðaʊ/ /ɡoʊ/ /ʌp/ /tu/ /jərusələm/ /ænd/ /ðer/ /bi/ /dʒʌdʒd/ /əv/ /ðiz/ /θɪŋz/ /bɪˈfɔr/ /mi/
    • [jnd]   But Festus, desirous of obliging the Jews, to acquire their favour, answering Paul, said, Art thou willing to go up to Jerusalem, there to be judged before me concerning these things?
    • [kjv]   But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
    • [asv]   But Paul said, I am standing before Caesar's judgment-seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou also very well knowest.
    • [snd]   /bʌt/ /pɔ:l/ /sed/ /aɪ/ /ɑm'/ /ˈstændɪŋ/ /bɪˈfɔr/ /sizər/ /s/ /dʒədʒment/ /sit/ /wer/ /aɪ/ /ɔt/ /tu/ /bi/ /dʒʌdʒd/ /tu/ /ðə/ / /hæv/ /aɪ/ /dʌn/ /nɔh/ /rɔŋ/ /æz/ /ðaʊ/ /ˈɔlsoʊ/ /ˈveri/ /wel/ /noʊst/
    • [jnd]   But Paul said, I am standing before the judgment-seat of Caesar, where I ought to be judged. To the Jews have I done no wrong, as *thou* also very well knowest.
    • [kjv]   Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
    • [asv]   If then I am a wrong-doer, and have committed anything worthy of death, I refuse not to die; but if none of those things is true whereof these accuse me, no man can give me up unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
    • [snd]   /ɪf/ /ðen/ /aɪ/ /ɑm'/ /eɪ/ /rɔŋ/ /ˈduər/ /ænd/ /hæv/ /kəˈmɪtəd/ /ˈeniˌθɪŋ/ /ˈwɜrði/ /əv/ /deθ/ /aɪ/ /rɪˈfjuz/ /nɑt/ /tu/ /daɪ/ /bʌt/ /ɪf/ /nʌn/ /əv/ /ðoʊz/ /θɪŋz/ /ɪz/ /tru/ /werˈɔv/ /ðiz/ /əˈkjuz/ /mi/ /nɔh/ /mæn/ /kæn/ /ɡɪv/ /mi/ /ʌp/ /ˈʌntu/ /ðem/ /aɪ/ /əˈpil/ /ˈʌntu/ /sizər/
    • [jnd]   If then I have done any wrong and committed anything worthy of death, I do not deprecate dying; but if there is nothing of those things of which they accuse me, no man can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar.
    • [kjv]   For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
    • [asv]   Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Thou hast appealed unto Caesar: unto Caesar shalt thou go.
    • [snd]   /ðen/ /festəs/ /wen/ /heɪ/ /həd/ /kənˈfɜrd/ /wɪð/ /ði/ /ˈkaʊns(ə)l/ /ˈænsərd/ /ðaʊ/ /hɑst/ /əˈpild/ /ˈʌntu/ /sizər/ /ˈʌntu/ /sizər/ /ʃælt/ /ðaʊ/ /ɡoʊ/
    • [jnd]   Then Festus, having conferred with the council, answered, Thou hast appealed to Caesar. To Caesar shalt thou go.
    • [kjv]   Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.
    • [asv]   Now when certain days were passed, Agrippa the King and Bernice arrived at Caesarea, and saluted Festus.
    • [snd]   /naʊ/ /wen/ /ˈsɜrt(ə)n/ /deɪz/ /wɜr/ /ˈpæseɪd/ /əgraipə/ /ðə/ /kɪŋ/ /ænd/ /bernai si/ /əˈraɪvd/ /æt/ /ses'əri'ə/ /ænd/ /səˈlutId/ /festəs/
    • [jnd]   And when certain days had elapsed, Agrippa the king and Bernice arrived at Caesarea to salute Festus.
    • [kjv]   And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.
    • [asv]   And as they tarried there many days, Festus laid Paul's case before the King, saying, There is a certain man left a prisoner by Felix;
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /æz/ /ðeɪ/ d/ /ðer/ /ˈmeni/ /deɪz/ /festəs/ /leɪd/ /pɔ:l/ /s/ /keɪs/ /bɪˈfɔr/ /ðə/ /kɪŋ/ /ˈseɪɪŋ/ /ðer/ /ɪz/ /eɪ/ /ˈsɜrt(ə)n/ /mæn/ /left/ /eɪ/ /ˈprɪz(ə)nər/ /baɪ/ /filiks/
    • [jnd]   And when they had spent many days there, Festus laid before the king the matters relating to Paul, saying, There is a certain man left prisoner by Felix,
    • [kjv]   And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:
    • [asv]   about whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, asking for sentence against him.
    • [snd]   /əˈbaʊt/ /hum/ /wen/ /aɪ/ /wɑz/ /æt/ /jərusələm/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /prists/ /ænd/ /ði/ /ˈeldərz/ /əv/ /ðə/ / /ɪnˈfɔrmd/ /mi/ /æskɪŋ/ /fɔr/ /ˈsent(ə)ns/ /əˈɡenst/ /hɪm/
    • [jnd]   concerning whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews laid informations, requiring judgment against him:
    • [kjv]   About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.
    • [asv]   To whom I answered, that it is not the custom of the Romans to give up any man, before that the accused have the accusers face to face, and have had opportunity to make his defense concerning the matter laid against him.
    • [snd]   /tu/ /hum/ /aɪ/ /ˈænsərd/ /ðæt/ /ɪt/ /ɪz/ /nɑt/ /ði/ /ˈkʌstəm/ /əv/ /ðə/ /'rəumənz/ /tu/ /ɡɪv/ /ʌp/ /ˈeni/ /mæn/ /bɪˈfɔr/ /ðæt/ /ði/ /əˈkjuzd/ /hæv/ /ði/ / /feɪs/ /tu/ /feɪs/ /ænd/ /hæv/ /həd/ /ˌɑpərˈtunəti/ /tu/ /meɪk/ /hɪz/ /dɪˈfens/ /kənˈsɜrnɪŋ/ /ðə/ /ˈmætər/ /leɪd/ /əˈɡenst/ /hɪm/
    • [jnd]   to whom I answered, It is not custom of the Romans to give up any man before that the accused have the accusers face to face, and he have got opportunity of defence touching the charge.
    • [kjv]   To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
    • [asv]   When therefore they were come together here, I made no delay, but on the next day sat on the judgment-seat, and commanded the man to be brought.
    • [snd]   /wen/ /ˈðerfɔr/ /ðeɪ/ /wɜr/ /kʌm/ /təˈɡeðər/ /hɪr/ /aɪ/ /meɪd/ /nɔh/ /dɪˈleɪ/ /bʌt/ /ɑn/ /ðə/ /nekst/ /deɪ/ /sæt/ /ɑn/ /ðə/ /dʒədʒment/ /sit/ /ænd/ /kəˈmændId/ /ðə/ /mæn/ /tu/ /bi/ /brɔt/
    • [jnd]   When therefore they had come together here, without putting it off, I sat the next day on the judgment-seat and commanded the man to be brought:
    • [kjv]   Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.
    • [asv]   Concerning whom, when the accusers stood up, they brought no charge of such evil things as I supposed;
    • [snd]   /kənˈsɜrnɪŋ/ /hum/ /wen/ /ði/ / /stʊd/ /ʌp/ /ðeɪ/ /brɔt/ /nɔh/ /tʃɑrdʒ/ /əv/ /sʌtʃ/ /ˈiv(ə)l/ /θɪŋz/ /æz/ /aɪ/ /səˈpoʊzd/
    • [jnd]   concerning whom the accusers, standing up, brought no such accusation of guilt as *I* supposed;
    • [kjv]   Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:
    • [asv]   but had certain questions against him of their own religion, and of one Jesus, who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
    • [snd]   /bʌt/ /həd/ /ˈsɜrt(ə)n/ /ˈkwestʃ(ə)nz/ /əˈɡenst/ /hɪm/ /əv/ /ðer/ /oʊn/ /rɪˈlɪdʒən/ /ænd/ /əv/ /wʌn/ /ji'zəs/ /hu/ /wɑz/ /ded/ /hum/ /pɔ:l/ /əˈfɜrmd/ /tu/ /bi/ /əˈlaɪv/
    • [jnd]   but had against him certain questions of their own system of worship, and concerning a certain Jesus who is dead, whom Paul affirmed to be living.
    • [kjv]   But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
    • [asv]   And I, being perplexed how to inquire concerning these things, asked whether he would go to Jerusalem and there be judged of these matters.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /aɪ/ /biɪŋ/ /pərˈplekst/ /haʊ/ /tu/ /ɪnˈkwaɪr/ /kənˈsɜrnɪŋ/ /ðiz/ /θɪŋz/ /æskt/ /ˈweðər/ /heɪ/ /wʊd/ /ɡoʊ/ /tu/ /jərusələm/ /ænd/ /ðer/ /bi/ /dʒʌdʒd/ /əv/ /ðiz/ /ˈmætərz/
    • [jnd]   And as I myself was at a loss as to an inquiry into these things, I said, Was he willing to go to Jerusalem and there to be judged concerning these things?
    • [kjv]   And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.
    • [asv]   But when Paul had appealed to be kept for the decision of the emperor, I commanded him to be kept till I should send him to Caesar.
    • [snd]   /bʌt/ /wen/ /pɔ:l/ /həd/ /əˈpild/ /tu/ /bi/ /kept/ /fɔr/ /ðə/ /dɪˈsɪʒ(ə)n/ /əv/ /ði/ /ˈempərər/ /aɪ/ /kəˈmændId/ /hɪm/ /tu/ /bi/ /kept/ /tɪl/ /aɪ/ /ʃʊd/ /send/ /hɪm/ /tu/ /sizər/
    • [jnd]   But Paul having appealed to be kept for the cognisance of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I shall send him to Caesar.
    • [kjv]   But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.
    • [asv]   And Agrippa said unto Festus, I also could wish to hear the man myself. To-morrow, saith he, thou shalt hear him.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /əgraipə/ /sed/ /ˈʌntu/ /festəs/ /aɪ/ /ˈɔlsoʊ/ /kʊd/ /wɪʃ/ /tu/ /hɪr/ /ðə/ /mæn/ /maɪˈself/ /tu/ /ˈmɔroʊ/ /seθ/ /heɪ/ /ðaʊ/ /ʃælt/ /hɪr/ /hɪm/
    • [jnd]   And Agrippa to Festus, I myself also would desire to hear the man. To-morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
    • [kjv]   Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
    • [asv]   So on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and they were entered into the place of hearing with the chief captains and principal men of the city, at the command of Festus Paul was brought in.
    • [snd]   /soʊ/ /ɑn/ /ðə/ /ˈmɔroʊ/ /wen/ /əgraipə/ /wɑz/ /kʌm/ /ænd/ /bernai si/ /wɪð/ /ɡreɪt/ /pɑmp/ /ænd/ /ðeɪ/ /wɜr/ /ˈentərd/ /ˈɪntu/ /ðə/ /pleɪs/ /əv/ /ˈhɪrɪŋ/ /wɪð/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /ˈkæptɪnz/ /ænd/ /ˈprɪnsəp(ə)l/ /men/ /əv/ /ði/ /ˈsɪti/ /æt/ /ði/ /kəˈmænd/ /əv/ /festəs/ /pɔ:l/ /wɑz/ /brɔt/ /ɪn/
    • [jnd]   On the morrow therefore, Agrippa being come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and having entered into the hall of audience, with the chiliarchs and the men of distinction of the city, and Festus having given command, Paul was brought.
    • [kjv]   And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth.
    • [asv]   And Festus saith, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye behold this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews made suit to me, both at Jerusalem and here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /festəs/ /seθ/ /kɪŋ/ /əgraipə/ /ænd/ /ɔl/ /men/ /hu/ /ɑr/ /hɪr/ /ˈprezənt/ /wɪð/ /ʌs/ /ji/ /bɪˈhoʊld/ /ðɪs/ /mæn/ /əˈbaʊt/ /hum/ /ɔl/ /ðə/ /ˈmʌltɪˌtud/ /əv/ /ðə/ / /meɪd/ /sut/ /tu/ /mi/ /boʊθ/ /æt/ /jərusələm/ /ænd/ /hɪr/ /ˈkraɪɪŋ/ /ðæt/ /heɪ/ /ɔt/ /nɑt/ /tu/ /lɪv/ /ˈeni/ /'lɔŋgə/
    • [jnd]   And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye see this person, concerning whom all the multitude of the Jews applied to me both in Jerusalem and here, crying out against that he ought not to live any longer.
    • [kjv]   And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
    • [asv]   But I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death: and as he himself appealed to the emperor I determined to send him.

    • [jnd]   But I, having found that he had done nothing worthy of death, and this himself having appealed to Augustus, I have decided to send him;
    • [kjv]   But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
    • [asv]   Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I may have somewhat to write.

    • [kjv]   Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
    • [asv]   For it seemeth to me unreasonable, in sending a prisoner, not withal to signify the charges against him.
    • [snd]   /fɔr/ /ɪt/ /simθ/ /tu/ /mi/ /ʌnˈriz(ə)nəb(ə)l/ /ɪn/ /sendɪŋ/ /eɪ/ /ˈprɪz(ə)nər/ /nɑt/ /wɪðˈɔl/ /tu/ /ˈsɪɡnɪˌfaɪ/ /ði/ /tʃɑrdʒiz/ /əˈɡenst/ /hɪm/
    • [jnd]   for it seems to me senseless, sending a prisoner, not also to signify the charges against him.
    • [kjv]   For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.
