CLOSER TO MY HOME
1. How enchanting
and sweet the thought,
O what glory is
drawing near;
And thro' each day,
I'm closer home,
Closer to heav'n -
my Father's home.
Refrain
Yes, closer to my
home,
My heav'nly home,
sweet home.
I will ever behold
His face;
I will ever stand
by His side;
I will ever sing of
His grace.
Passing this day,
I'm closer home,
One step closer to
my home.
2. Grief is mingled
with pain this day;
Soon I'll cast all
my loads away.
But your nearness
dispells my fears,
Another day! I'm
closer home.
3. Short is my life
in constant trials;
Foes surround me in
raging plots.
He consoles me in
vales of tears;
Above this earth,
my home I see.
4. Sigh no more - O
weary souls!
Naught can impede -
your home is nigh.
My heart cries out
to you, my Lord,
"If You must
tarry, take me home."
5. No more envy nor
bitter strife,
No more death,
there - time, space entwined,
What sweet union
and joyful praise!
Joint-heirs with
Christ thro' endless days.
