IT WAS THROUGH GOD'S ETERNAL SPIRIT
1. It was thro' God
eternal Spirit,
My Saviour came to
Calvary:
The Lamb of God,
spotless and pure,
Offered Himself a
sacrifice.

dearest Saviour,
Thy love doth
captivate my heart;
To Thee I give my
with'ring life
The Father's heart
to satisfy!
2. And now through
God's eternal Spirit
I'm brought to
awesome Calvary,
Where I behold His
matchless love
In dying for a worm
like me.
3. On Calvary's
brow vict'ry is won -
New hope for fallen
race appears;
Turning the page of
curse and woe,
Thou hast all
things in Thee renewed.
4. His cry so
solemn, "It is finished!"
Doth rouse the
heav'n with rapt'rous praise.
Thy death hast
freed me from Death's power.
Thy life hast given
life to me.
5. What wondrous
grace revealed at Calv'ry!
Cleansed is my
conscience in Thy blood,
That I might all my
dead works conquer
Ever to serve my
Lord, my God.
6. O Thou my Soul,
how can it be
That thou shouldst
speak forth all His grace.
My heart is lost in
heav'nly sweetness.
My eyes stream
forth unceasing tears.
