    • [asv]   And Paul, looking stedfastly on the council, said, Brethren, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this day.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /pɔ:l/ /lʊkɪŋ/ / /ɑn/ /ði/ /ˈkaʊns(ə)l/ /sed/ /ˈbreðrən/ /aɪ/ /hæv/ /lɪvd/ /bɪˈfɔr/ /ɡɑd/ /ɪn/ /ɔl/ /ɡʊd/ /kæhn(t)ʃən(t)s/ /ənˈtɪl/ /ðɪs/ /deɪ/
    • [jnd]   And Paul, fixing his eyes on the council, said, Brethren, I have walked in all good conscience with God unto this day.
    • [kjv]   And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
    • [asv]   And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /ðə/ /haɪ/ /prist/ /æn'ənai əs/ /kəˈmændId/ /ðem/ /ðæt/ /stʊd/ /baɪ/ /hɪm/ /tu/ /smaɪt/ /hɪm/ /ɑn/ /ðə/ /maʊθ/
    • [jnd]   But the high priest Ananias ordered those standing by him to smite his mouth.
    • [kjv]   And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.
    • [asv]   Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: and sittest thou to judge me according to the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
    • [snd]   /ðen/ /sed/ /pɔ:l/ /ˈʌntu/ /hɪm/ /ɡɑd/ /ʃæl/ /smaɪt/ /θi/ /ðaʊ/ /waɪtId/ /wɔl/ /ænd/ /sɪtst/ /ðaʊ/ /tu/ /dʒudʒ/ /mi/ /əˈkɔrdɪŋ/ /tu/ /ðə/ /lɔ/ /ænd/ /kəˈmændst/ /mi/ /tu/ /bi/ /ˈsmɪt(ə)n/ /ˈkɑnˌtreri/ /tu/ /ðə/ /lɔ/
    • [jnd]   Then Paul said to him, God will smite thee, whited wall. And *thou*, dost thou sit judging me according to the law, and breaking the law commandest me to be smitten?
    • [kjv]   Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
    • [asv]   And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest?
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /ðeɪ/ /ðæt/ /stʊd/ /baɪ/ /sed/ /rɪˈvaɪlst/ /ðaʊ/ /ɡɑd/ /s/ /haɪ/ /prist/
    • [jnd]   And those that stood by said, Dost thou rail against the high priest of God?
    • [kjv]   And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God's high priest?
    • [asv]   And Paul said, I knew not, brethren, that he was high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of a ruler of thy people.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /pɔ:l/ /sed/ /aɪ/ /nu/ /nɑt/ /ˈbreðrən/ /ðæt/ /heɪ/ /wɑz/ /haɪ/ /prist/ /fɔr/ /ɪt/ /ɪz/ /ˈrɪt(ə)n/ /ðaʊ/ /ʃælt/ /nɑt/ /spik/ /ˈiv(ə)l/ /əv/ /eɪ/ /ˈrulər/ /əv/ /ðaɪ/ /ˈpip(ə)l/
    • [jnd]   And Paul said, I was not conscious, brethren, that he was high priest; for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evilly of the ruler of thy people.
    • [kjv]   Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
    • [asv]   But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Brethren, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees: touching the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
    • [snd]   /bʌt/ /wen/ /pɔ:l/ /pərˈsivd/ /ðæt/ /ði/ /wʌn/ /pɑrt/ /wɜr/ /sædjusiz/ /ænd/ /ði/ /ˈʌðər/ /ˈferəˌsiz/ /heɪ/ /kraɪd/ /aʊt/ /ɪn/ /ði/ /ˈkaʊns(ə)l/ /ˈbreðrən/ /aɪ/ /ɑm'/ /eɪ/ /fɛərəsi(z)/ /eɪ/ /sʌn/ /əv/ /ˈferəˌsiz/ /ˈtʌtʃɪŋ/ /ðə/ /hoʊp/ /ænd/ /ˌrezəˈrekʃən/ /əv/ /ðə/ /ded/ /aɪ/ /ɑm'/ /kɔld/ /ɪn/ /ˈkwestʃ(ə)n/
    • [jnd]   But Paul, knowing that the one part were of the Sadducees and the other of the Pharisees, cried out in the council, Brethren, *I* am a Pharisee, son of Pharisees: *I* am judged concerning the hope and resurrection of dead.
    • [kjv]   But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
    • [asv]   And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and Sadducees; and the assembly was divided.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /wen/ /heɪ/ /həd/ /soʊ/ /sed/ /ðer/ /əˈroʊz/ /eɪ/ /dɪˈsenʃən/ /bɪˈtwin/ /ðə/ /ˈferəˌsiz/ /ænd/ /sædjusiz/ /ænd/ /ði/ /əˈsembli/ /wɑz/ /dɪˈvaɪdɪd/
    • [jnd]   And when he had spoken this, there was a tumult of the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the multitude was divided.
    • [kjv]   And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.
    • [asv]   For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.
    • [snd]   /fɔr/ /ðə/ /sædjusiz/ /seɪ/ /ðæt/ /ðer/ /ɪz/ /nɔh/ /ˌrezəˈrekʃən/ /ˈniðər/ /eɪnjəl/ /nɔr/ /ˈspɪrɪt/ /bʌt/ /ðə/ /ˈferəˌsiz/ /kənˈfes/ /boʊθ/
    • [jnd]   For Sadducees say there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but Pharisees confess both of them.
    • [kjv]   For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.
    • [asv]   And there arose a great clamor: and some of the scribes of the Pharisees part stood up, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: and what if a spirit hath spoken to him, or an angel?
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /ðer/ /əˈroʊz/ /eɪ/ /ɡreɪt/ /ˈklæmər/ /ænd/ /sʌm/ /əv/ /ðə/ /skraɪbz/ /əv/ /ðə/ /ˈferəˌsiz/ /pɑrt/ /stʊd/ /ʌp/ /ænd/ /stroʊv/ /ˈseɪɪŋ/ /wi/ /faɪnd/ /nɔh/ /ˈiv(ə)l/ /ɪn/ /ðɪs/ /mæn/ /ænd/ /wɑt/ /ɪf/ /eɪ/ /ˈspɪrɪt/ /hæθ/ /ˈspoʊkən/ /tu/ /hɪm/ /ɔr/ /æn/ /eɪnjəl/
    • [jnd]   And there was a great clamour, and the scribes of the Pharisees' part rising up contended, saying, We find nothing evil in this man; and if a spirit has spoken to him, or an angel ...
    • [kjv]   And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
    • [asv]   And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the castle.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /wen/ /ðer/ /əˈroʊz/ /eɪ/ /ɡreɪt/ /dɪˈsenʃən/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /ˈkæptɪn/ /fɪrɪŋ/ /lest/ /pɔ:l/ /ʃʊd/ /bi/ /tɔrn/ /ɪn/ /pisiz/ /baɪ/ /ðem/ /kəˈmændId/ /ðə/ /ˈsoʊldʒərz/ /tu/ /ɡoʊ/ /daʊn/ /ænd/ /teɪk/ /hɪm/ /baɪ/ /fɔrs/ /frɑm/ /əˈmʌŋ/ /ðem/ /ænd/ /brɪŋ/ /hɪm/ /ˈɪntu/ /ði/ /ˈkæs(ə)l/
    • [jnd]   And a great tumult having arisen, the chiliarch, fearing lest Paul should have been torn in pieces by them, commanded the troop to come down and take him by force from the midst of them, and to bring into the fortress.
    • [kjv]   And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.
    • [asv]   And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer: for as thou hast testified concerning me at Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /ðə/ /naɪt/ /ˈfɑloʊɪŋ/ /ðə/ /lɔrd/ /stʊd/ /baɪ/ /hɪm/ /ænd/ /sed/ /bi/ /əv/ /ɡʊd/ /tʃɪr/ /fɔr/ /æz/ /ðaʊ/ /hɑst/ d/ /kənˈsɜrnɪŋ/ /mi/ /æt/ /jərusələm/ /soʊ/ /mʌst/ /ðaʊ/ /ber/ /ˈwɪtnəs/ /ˈɔlsoʊ/ /æt/ /rɔhm/
    • [jnd]   But the following night the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good courage; for as thou hast testified the things concerning me at Jerusalem, so thou must bear witness at Rome also.
    • [kjv]   And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.
    • [asv]   And when it was day, the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /wen/ /ɪt/ /wɑz/ /deɪ/ /ðə/ / /bændId/ /təˈɡeðər/ /ænd/ /baʊnd/ /ðəmˈselvz/ /ˈʌndər/ /eɪ/ /kɜrs/ /ˈseɪɪŋ/ /ðæt/ /ðeɪ/ /wʊd/ /ˈniðər/ /it/ /nɔr/ /drɪŋk/ /tɪl/ /ðeɪ/ /həd/ /kɪld/ /pɔ:l/
    • [jnd]   And when it was day, the Jews, having banded together, put themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they should kill Paul.
    • [kjv]   And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
    • [asv]   And they were more than forty that made this conspiracy.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /ðeɪ/ /wɜr/ /mɔr/ /ðæn/ /ˈfɔrti/ /ðæt/ /meɪd/ /ðɪs/ /kənˈspɪrəsi/
    • [jnd]   And they were more than forty who had joined together in this oath;
    • [kjv]   And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy.
    • [asv]   And they came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /ðeɪ/ /keɪm/ /tu/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /prists/ /ænd/ /ði/ /ˈeldərz/ /ænd/ /sed/ /wi/ /hæv/ /baʊnd/ /aʊrˈselvz/ /ˈʌndər/ /eɪ/ /ɡreɪt/ /kɜrs/ /tu/ /teɪst/ /ˈnʌθɪŋ/ /ənˈtɪl/ /wi/ /hæv/ /kɪld/ /pɔ:l/
    • [jnd]   and they went to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have cursed ourselves with a curse to taste nothing until we kill Paul.
    • [kjv]   And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.
    • [asv]   Now therefore do ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you, as though ye would judge of his case more exactly: and we, before he comes near, are ready to slay him.
    • [snd]   /naʊ/ /ˈðerfɔr/ /du/ /ji/ /wɪð/ /ði/ /ˈkaʊns(ə)l/ /ˈsɪɡnɪˌfaɪ/ /tu/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /ˈkæptɪn/ /ðæt/ /heɪ/ /brɪŋ/ /hɪm/ /daʊn/ /ˈʌntu/ /ju/ /æz/ /ðoʊ/ /ji/ /wʊd/ /dʒudʒ/ /əv/ /hɪz/ /keɪs/ /mɔr/ /ɪɡˈzæk(t)li/ /ænd/ /wi/ /bɪˈfɔr/ /heɪ/ /kʌmz/ /nɪr/ /ɑr/ /ˈredi/ /tu/ /sleɪ/ /hɪm/
    • [jnd]   Now therefore do ye with the council make a representation to the chiliarch so that he may bring him down to you, as about to determine more precisely what concerns him, and we, before he draws near, are ready to kill him.
    • [kjv]   Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
    • [asv]   But Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, and he came and entered into the castle and told Paul.
    • [snd]   /bʌt/ /pɔ:l/ /s/ /ˈsɪstər/ /s/ /sʌn/ /hɜrd/ /əv/ /ðer/ /ˈlaɪɪŋ/ /ɪn/ /weɪt/ /ænd/ /heɪ/ /keɪm/ /ænd/ /ˈentərd/ /ˈɪntu/ /ði/ /ˈkæs(ə)l/ /ænd/ /toʊld/ /pɔ:l/
    • [jnd]   But Paul's sister's son, having heard of the lying in wait, came and entered into the fortress and reported to Paul.
    • [kjv]   And when Paul's sister's son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.
    • [asv]   And Paul called unto him one of the centurions, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain; for he hath something to tell him.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /pɔ:l/ /kɔld/ /ˈʌntu/ /hɪm/ /wʌn/ /əv/ /ði/ /senˈtʊriənz/ /ænd/ /sed/ /brɪŋ/ /ðɪs/ /jʌŋ/ /mæn/ /ˈʌntu/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /ˈkæptɪn/ /fɔr/ /heɪ/ /hæθ/ /ˈsʌmθɪŋ/ /tu/ /tel/ /hɪm/
    • [jnd]   And Paul, having called one of the centurions, said, Take this youth to the chiliarch, for he has something to report to him.
    • [kjv]   Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.
    • [asv]   So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and saith, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and asked me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say to thee.
    • [snd]   /soʊ/ /heɪ/ /tʊk/ /hɪm/ /ænd/ /brɔt/ /hɪm/ /tu/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /ˈkæptɪn/ /ænd/ /seθ/ /pɔ:l/ /ðə/ /ˈprɪz(ə)nər/ /kɔld/ /mi/ /ˈʌntu/ /hɪm/ /ænd/ /æskt/ /mi/ /tu/ /brɪŋ/ /ðɪs/ /jʌŋ/ /mæn/ /ˈʌntu/ /θi/ /hu/ /hæθ/ /ˈsʌmθɪŋ/ /tu/ /seɪ/ /tu/ /θi/
    • [jnd]   He therefore, having taken him with , led him to the chiliarch, and says, The prisoner Paul called me to and asked me to lead this youth to thee, who has something to say to thee.
    • [kjv]   So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.
    • [asv]   And the chief captain took him by the hand, and going aside asked him privately, What is it that thou hast to tell me?
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /ˈkæptɪn/ /tʊk/ /hɪm/ /baɪ/ /ðə/ /hænd/ /ænd/ /ˈɡoʊɪŋ/ /əˈsaɪd/ /æskt/ /hɪm/ /ˈpraɪvətli/ /wɑt/ /ɪz/ /ɪt/ /ðæt/ /ðaʊ/ /hɑst/ /tu/ /tel/ /mi/
    • [jnd]   And the chiliarch having taken him by the hand, and having gone apart in private, inquired, What is it that thou hast to report to me?
    • [kjv]   Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me?
    • [asv]   And he said, The Jews have agreed to ask thee to bring down Paul tomorrow unto the council, as though thou wouldest inquire somewhat more exactly concerning him.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /heɪ/ /sed/ /ðə/ / /hæv/ /əˈɡrid/ /tu/ /æsk/ /θi/ /tu/ /brɪŋ/ /daʊn/ /pɔ:l/ /təˈmɔroʊ/ /ˈʌntu/ /ði/ /ˈkaʊns(ə)l/ /æz/ /ðoʊ/ /ðaʊ/ /wʊdst/ /ɪnˈkwaɪr/ /ˈsʌmwɑt, ˈsʌmhwɑt/ /mɔr/ /ɪɡˈzæk(t)li/ /kənˈsɜrnɪŋ/ /hɪm/
    • [jnd]   And he said, The Jews have agreed together to make a request to thee, that thou mayest bring Paul down to-morrow into the council, as about to inquire something more precise concerning him.
    • [kjv]   And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly.
    • [asv]   Do not thou therefore yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, who have bound themselves under a curse, neither to eat nor to drink till they have slain him: and now are they ready, looking for the promise from thee.
    • [snd]   /du/ /nɑt/ /ðaʊ/ /ˈðerfɔr/ /jild/ /ˈʌntu/ /ðem/ /fɔr/ /ðer/ /laɪ/ /ɪn/ /weɪt/ /fɔr/ /hɪm/ /əv/ /ðem/ /mɔr/ /ðæn/ /ˈfɔrti/ /men/ /hu/ /hæv/ /baʊnd/ /ðəmˈselvz/ /ˈʌndər/ /eɪ/ /kɜrs/ /ˈniðər/ /tu/ /it/ /nɔr/ /tu/ /drɪŋk/ /tɪl/ /ðeɪ/ /hæv/ /sleɪn/ /hɪm/ /ænd/ /naʊ/ /ɑr/ /ðeɪ/ /ˈredi/ /lʊkɪŋ/ /fɔr/ /ðə/ /ˈprɑmɪs/ /frɑm/ /θi/
    • [jnd]   Do not thou then be persuaded by them, for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, who have put themselves under a curse neither to eat nor drink till they kill him; and now they are ready waiting the promise from thee.
    • [kjv]   But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.
    • [asv]   So the chief captain let the young man go, charging him, Tell no man that thou hast signified these things to me.
    • [snd]   /soʊ/ /ði/ /tʃif/ /ˈkæptɪn/ /let/ /ði/ /jʌŋ/ /mæn/ /ɡoʊ/ /tʃɑrdʒɪŋ/ /hɪm/ /tel/ /nɔh/ /mæn/ /ðæt/ /ðaʊ/ /hɑst/ d/ /ðiz/ /θɪŋz/ /tu/ /mi/
    • [jnd]   The chiliarch then dismissed the youth, commanding , Utter to no one that thou hast represented these things to me.
    • [kjv]   So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me.
    • [asv]   And he called unto him two of the centurions, and said, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night:
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /heɪ/ /kɔld/ /ˈʌntu/ /hɪm/ /tu/ /əv/ /ði/ /senˈtʊriənz/ /ænd/ /sed/ /meɪk/ /ˈredi/ /tu/ /ˈhʌndrəd/ /ˈsoʊldʒərz/ /tu/ /ɡoʊ/ /æz/ /fɑr/ /æz/ /ses'əri'ə/ /ænd/ / /ˌθriˈskɔr/ /ænd/ /ten/ /ænd/ / /tu/ /ˈhʌndrəd/ /æt/ /ðə/ /θɜrd/ /aʊr/ /əv/ /ðə/ /naɪt/
    • [jnd]   And having called to certain two of the centurions, he said, Prepare two hundred soldiers that they may go as far as Caesarea, and seventy horsemen, and two hundred light-armed footmen, for the third hour of the night.
    • [kjv]   And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;
    • [asv]   and he bade them provide beasts, that they might set Paul thereon, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.
    • [snd]   /ænd/ /heɪ/ /beɪd/ /ðem/ /prəˈvaɪd/ /bists/ /ðæt/ /ðeɪ/ /maɪt/ /set/ /pɔ:l/ /ðerˈɑn/ /ænd/ /brɪŋ/ /hɪm/ /seɪf/ /ˈʌntu/ /filiks/ /ðə/ /ˈɡʌvərnər/
    • [jnd]   And to provide beasts, that they might set Paul on them and carry safe through to Felix the governor,
